Recently, there has been a lot of traction to woo customers towards exposure of their applications wirelessly over mobile devices. It is the right way too, considering the additional revenue mobile applications can bring along. There is a good percentage of users already who are using their mobile devices to transact. In travel domain we have seen hundrends of apps already available and all major travel companies have created an app to generate that extra edge and dollars. With increase in adoption of touchscreen and smartphones, its easier to use mobile devices to shop, book and search for services.
I have tried to consolidate the services which different providers could expose. Besides the regular shopping, booking transactions, the aim is to provide that xxtra ancillary services which could make that marketing difference like gps, weather, boarding updates, mobile payments, notifications, mobile as key use, language tools, trip options etc
Currently every travel company has a mobile app for searching and booking travel content but what is it that would entice the mobile user to install your app and not company X's? Well, that's where these extra features come into play which might not directly help drive revenue but which will differentiate your product from the herd's. Someone might find it interesting to guide himself to the airport gate via his mobile GPS while someone else might find a barcode boarding pass more handy than carrying a hard copy of the itinerary. Many more would like to get airport/hotel/car/cafe/shop/local promotions and coupons once they are in the airport.
Similarly, mobile devices are gradually replacing hotel keys and credit cards. Mobile payments/checkouts is the next innovative thing in the payments industry.
It's even easier now to send receipts, bills, flight alerts, gate changes, weather updates, destination guides, reviews, coupons, promotions and a plethora of notifications to smart phones without any viewing displeasure.
